Riots in France

It is funny because, just as it was the case with Los Angeles riots ten years ago, the situation is quite bad in some limited areas but when you are not inside, everything's quite normal and to some extent, it is virtual (we monitor the number of burned cars on tv, but nothing than implies us directly as Paris itself is protected: only poor areas are concerned for the time being).

On the other hand, the riots have reached the small town where I come from, Chartres, where a dozen of vehicule and a car dealer shop have been burnt leaving 12 people unemployed.

I also read that in Orleans suburb (150 km south of paris, center of France, population: 300 000), cars have also been burnt whereas the small town where she lives is usually quite still.

The worst is that no one really knows where it really comes from: some says it is because people are globally fed up, but I think that some groups are interested in increasing violence so as to let ethnic groups fight with each other: now, the black and arabs are more pinpointed than ever.

This is what is at stake: Sarkozy, the leftist at the head of the Departement of interior Security, has an interest in those riots, as he appears as being the shield against violence.

Extremists from the muslim side, have interested in increasing ethnic tensions.

The french far right has the same kind of interest: the more the black and arab with burn, the more votes, Le Pen will get during the next elections.
